Listing optimization

Improving a product page's indexing (which searches it appears for) and conversion (how many visitors buy).

Definition

Two separate jobs. Indexing depends on the words in the title, bullets, description, backend search terms and structured attributes: if a keyword is not there, the product cannot rank for it. Conversion depends on the main image, price, reviews, the first two bullets and A+ Content.

Common mistakes: keyword-stuffed titles that hurt click-through, backend terms repeating words from the title, missing attributes that exclude the product from filters, and images that do not show size or use.

Testing: Manage Your Experiments (for Brand Registry owners) runs A/B tests on titles, images, bullets and A+ with real traffic.

How we use it

We audit indexing per target keyword, rewrite in the marketplace's language, then run experiments on images and A+ until conversion sits above category average.

FAQ

Common questions

How many keywords should a title contain?

The two or three most important ones, readably. Rank for the rest through bullets, backend terms and attributes. A title is for click-through as much as for indexing.
