Selling and advertising on Amazon.com

Amazon.com is the largest and most competitive marketplace. Winning there is a question of margin discipline: True ACoS per ASIN, listings that convert above category average and budgets that follow profit.

On Amazon.com, CPCs in popular categories have risen every year and average ROAS sits around 3x for Sponsored Products. Growth-at-any-cost advertising is no longer viable for most brands. We manage Amazon.com accounts to contribution margin: every ASIN gets a break-even ACoS and a target below it.

Conversion is the lever that beats rising CPCs. Main image tests, A+ Premium, comparison charts and review velocity move conversion rate; a 30 percent lift cuts ACoS by roughly a quarter at the same bids. We fix the listing before we scale the spend.

For non-US brands, Amazon.com involves sales tax handled by Amazon, an EIN or W-8 setup, US FBA inventory and often a US importer. We coordinate the structure and run the account from our Canadian office in a North American time zone.

FAQ

Common questions

What ACoS is realistic on Amazon.com?

It depends on margin and category. Mature accounts we manage typically run 15 to 25 percent ACoS on generic terms and under 10 percent on brand terms. Launches run higher on purpose.

Can a Canadian or European brand sell on Amazon.com without a US company?

Yes. Amazon accepts foreign sellers with a W-8BEN-E and a bank account that accepts USD. Inventory goes into US FBA via a customs broker. We coordinate the setup.

Do you manage Amazon.com and Amazon.ca together?

Yes, as two accounts with one strategy. Bids, keywords and budgets are set per marketplace because CPCs and conversion rates differ.

Shall we talk about your Amazon potential?

Free, no obligation. A senior specialist reviews your account and shows you where profit is hiding.
